Ekwunife Storms Election Petition Tribunal ..Replies Umeh BY ABUCHI IFESINACHI, AWKA

The Senator-Elect for Anambra Central Senatorial district in the March 28, National Assembly election, Chief (Mrs.) Uche Ekwunife at the weekend filed her reply to the petition brought against her victory to the legislative House of Assembly Election Petition Tribunal in Awka, by Chief Victor Umeh of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) saying she won the election clear and clean.

Umeh who was the National chairman of APGA and the candidate of the party in the election had shortly after the election dragged Ekwunife who is currently serving as the representative of Anaocha, Njikoka and Dunukofia Federal consistency in the House of Representatives to the Tribunal asking it to declare him winner going by the booth by booth result of the election obtained by his agents in the field.

But at about 6.30pm last Friday after Ekwunife had submitted her reply to the secretary to the Tribunal and signed the necessary columns, she told Journalists that Umeh had asked the election court to declare him winner by deducting some figures from the polling booth results credited to her and add about 1000 votes to his to enable him emerge winner.

She described the claim as wishful thinking because according to her, she was the person who won the booth by booth result.

'I won the booth by booth result. He is asking the election court to deduct some of my figures and add 1000 to his figure and declare him the winner. Did you see Ngige, the candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) here? He is not here because he knew I won the election.
'I submitted the polling unit result. He is not the only one that has a calculator. I also have one,' she said.

She further said that she had faith in the tribunal to do justice to the matter which she said is not complicated, adding that the figures are with the members of the Tribunal and that she was not expecting them to manufacture new figures.

She said she had in her reply asked the Tribunal to maintain the status-quo and uphold her victory.
